She Connected Dots
Pictures appearing suddenly
a different kind of event was in the making, despite a few drops of images whispering what was thought of as cultivation. way down under the significance of microscopic turmoil, a shoutout to her friend changed the entire ballgame. laughing aloud never meant what they were about, having offered each other miles of discomfort.
a wage was being warred in between roads severed by ailing temptations. how about nothing was what seemed to be at the forefront of months of debilitation. mainstream settings hampered the patterns usually manipulating their strategies. maybe next time was pushed to the outer banks of light and love.
she connected dots like a schoolgirl coloring a Highlights magazine. pictures appearing suddenly when enough pen strokes had moved from left to right, up and down. never imagining that would be the final product, she thought to herself, “What in the heck is that supposed to be?” her mother never knew what she was talking about so answers rarely came.
empty nests of bird feeders landed with wings feathering the backyard of their hopes. compared to the other situation it was less arduous and disturbing. but that was only in her frame of mind because she wasn’t on the receiving end behind curtain number one. that would have sucked.
marveling descriptions smothered her point of view having been the luckier party when push came to shove. probably why he can never relate to anything about her circumstances, blaming it entirely on her ins and outs of responsibility and carelessness. another good reason to have left the party when she did.
amassing labels and simulations left her in an undergrowth of depicted fragility. a belief system of seeing clearly through bullshit was part of her motto. then again, everyone on the planet has their opinion about something. waving flags of operative comparisons troubles feelings without a change of heart.
malleable imports entered capsizing mistakes when freedom was removed from islands of basic needs. tumbling through a mountain of hedges left eyes and ears cabling toward sedimentary waters. heads bobbing out of character offer tenuous opportunities for newcomers. patiently awaiting news, they all sat with legs and fingers crossed.

Thank you for reading.

I loved getting the Highlights magazine! They should make Highlights for adults. Put that on your to-do list, Yoda!
I’ve still got these heads bobbing up and down with waves in my head.
I love how the poem is constructed, an intricate design with perfect spaces for the reader to fill.
